The Medical Assistant Specialist is responsible for preparing patients for visits and assisting physicians with medical procedures. They also administer medications and maintain accurate patient medical records in accordance with nursing policies.
Description Essential Functions Summons and prepares patient for office visit.
Assists the physician with medical office procedures Administers medication, including injections; documents medication given or prescribed by ordering physicians as required by specialty.
Adheres to nursing policies and procedures when documenting information in patient’s medical record.
Maintains the integrity of the office Assumes responsibility for maintaining current certification in CPR Accepts responsibility for reading and referencing new policies and procedures and Nursing Update newsletters.
Is an active member of the care team and may include additional duties related to care coordination.
Required Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or 1 year of Medical Assistant work experience within the last 2 years. Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment. Current BLS certification or to be completed within first 90 days of employment.
Experience or training in a medical health care facility as a Medical Assistant.
