About the role

Medical Assistants facilitate all aspects of the patient visit experience, including room setup and patient preparation. They also perform clinical tasks such as taking vitals, drawing blood, and assisting with in-office procedures.

Description

Medical Assistants work in a collaborative environment to deliver excellent patient care under the direction of licensed clinical professionals in a clinic or practice environment. MAs are expected to facilitate all aspects of the patient visit experience.

What you will do

  • Room set up and patient preparation
  • Taking vitals
  • Drawing blood and giving injections and immunizations.
  • Performing office tests (Point of Care Testing)
  • Administrative duties
  • May perform or assisting with in-office procedures / treatments

Education

Minimum

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Successful completion of accredited/approved: MA program and MA externship, MA internship, EMT, or Paramedic program.

Credentials/Licensure (Preferred)

Minimum

  • Certification as a
  • Medical
  • Assistant through one of the following certifying agencies:
  • American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)
  • American Medical Technologists (RMA)
  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)
  • National Healthcareer Association (CCMA)
  • National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA)
  • American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)

Related Experience

Minimum

In absence of completed MA Program/Externship/Internship, must have 2+ years’ clinical experience providing clinical support in community-based clinic and be subject to standardized testing and evaluation of clinical skills.

Preferred

New graduate or1 or more years of previous clinical experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requirements

Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED and successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience. Certification as a Medical Assistant is preferred, along with relevant clinical experience.
