About the role

The Clinical Pharmacist II provides direct patient care, performs clinical pharmacy activities, and rounds with medical teams to provide interventions. They are also responsible for supervising drug distribution and precepting pharmacy students and residents.

This is a Full Time Benefited position with 4 - 10-hour varied shifts, including rotating weekends, at Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego.

Night shift rotation is an essential function of this position.

Schedule will be a minimum of 4 shifts per week schedule, plus 1 major holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas Day or New Years Day).

This position is not required to float to other locations.

Includes $4,000 retention incentive and $3,000 relocation assistance to eligible new hires.

The Clinical Pharmacist II will work at Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego, serving central and downtown San Diego.

As the Clinical Pharmacist II your duties will include: Primarily clinical based practice demonstrates ability to perform competencies and prescriptive authorities as approved by the medical staff.

Participating in direct patient care with patient care teams.

Performing all clinical pharmacy activities and oversees clinical activities of clinical pharmacists in training.

Round with the medical team and provide patient care interventions Precepting students and/or residents as appropriate Reviewing and evaluates individual drug orders for appropriateness, safety, and cost.

Documenting the care provided to patients.

Supervising the drug distribution operation: responsible for assuring safe and effective alternatives as appropriate.

Routinely communicating with physicians, nurses and patients regarding drug therapy.

Contributing to the accomplishment of initiatives to improve the cost-effectiveness of drug therapy.

Demonstrating ability to provide age-specific patient care as established for area and job title.

Demonstrating ability to perform competencies and perform activities as outlined in Pharmacist Authorities policy. #LI-JS1 The following are not eligible for hiring incentives:​ Internal candidates​ Rehires that left Scripps less than 3 years ago​ Candidates with less than 1 year of experience In order to remain eligible for your retention incentive the following criteria must be met​: Must remain in original hired FTE Status and Shift (if specified in offer letter)​ Must remain in original department/specialty​ Must remain in original Job Title​ Transfers to other locations will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may result in forfeiting remaining incentive bonus unless specifically noted in your offer letter

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills

BS Pharmacy or Pharm.D. Degree

Required Certification/Registration

California Pharmacist License AHA BLS for the health care provider and ACLS certifications required prior to being trained to respond to codes. Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) or other nationally recognized certification required within 2 years' of hire.

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification

Experience in a multi-site health system pharmacy enterprise; Teaching certificate and/or experience precepting students and/or residents PGY1 residency or 3 years' experience in relevant practice area preferred.

Requirements

Requires a BS Pharmacy or Pharm.D. degree and a California Pharmacist License, with BLS and ACLS certifications. A BPS or nationally recognized certification is required within two years of hire.
