Job Description

Summary: Under the general supervision of the Clinical Manager, the employee is responsible for providing quality patient care and technical physician support in the performance of vascular procedures in either the Cardiac Cath or Interventional Radiology setting. The employee is responsible for performing these procedures on an assigned shift and is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Adheres to «Quality Plus» standards and department quality guidelines while always placing patient needs first. Performs routine diagnostic and emergent vascular procedures while practicing and maintaining established safety protocols. Performs patient assessments and determines the needs of patients utilizing age specific needs. Monitors patient’s condition, records hemodynamic data and vital signs during procedures and intervenes when necessary or appropriate and documents pertinent information during the procedure. Obtains pre-assessment for conscious sedation administration. Administers medications and intravenous fluids as ordered by the supervising physician. Demonstrates the ability to operate and troubleshoot all specialized equipment. Demonstrated the ability to access patient information in various hospital and department systems. Serves as liaison between patient and family and communicates intra-procedure updates to family. Communicates information regarding patient and procedure to receiving nursing unit post procedure. Ensures the proper and safe segregation and safe disposal of hazardous pharmaceutical waste. Demonstrates the ability to circulate on both routine and emergent procedures, to include sterile set-up of equipment, supplies and patient prep. Transports patient having moderate sedation from department post procedure. Maintains a clean and well-supplied procedure room. Provides post procedure teaching to patient and patient’s family. Contributes to a positive work climate and the overall team effort of the department Performs related responsibilities as required or directed. JOB SPECIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Skills and proficiency in the nursing field: such proficiency as acquired through graduation from an accredited school of nursing and possesses an appropriate license to practice nursing. LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION: Current licensure as a registered nurse by the State of Tennessee. Current ACLS certification required. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide “age-specific” appropriate care and assessment to all patients. EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of hospital and department policies and procedures, equipment, forms, and record keeping as acquired through the orientation process. One year (1) experience in Vascular Intervention or Cath Lab preferred. NONDISCRIMINATION NOTICE STATEMENT

Requirements

Requires a valid Tennessee Registered Nurse license and current ACLS certification. One year of experience in a Cath Lab or Vascular Intervention setting is preferred.
