A Brief Overview The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist is a highly skilled professional who uses specialized MRI equipment to produce computer-generated diagnostic images which aid radiologists in diagnosing a wide variety of diseases and disorders. They perform procedures at a technical level requiring sound understanding of anatomical positioning and physiology; a high degree of technical competency and with the ability to act with initiative and ingenuity with minimal supervision. Employees in this position will be responsible for inpatient on-call and shift rotation.

What you will do Review orders prior to the day of procedure to ensure accuracy and to avoid delay in patient care.

Provide excellent patient care by educating and preparing patients for their procedure and MR safety while utilizing effective communication.

Obtain and document accurate patient medical history to assist radiologist’s interpretation.

Ensure patient comfort and safety for the duration of their procedure.

Perform MRI procedures as required based on physician’s order.

Perform complex tasks associated with the operation of MRI and related coils to obtain highest quality images of the anatomy being scanned.

Start I.V., load and operate power injector, and administer contrast media as directed and per protocol.

Completion of exam in hospital information system.

Cleaning and maintaining all imaging equipment.

May also assist with mentoring and/or training students, new hires.

Education Qualifications Associate's Degree under the completion of a Radiologic Technology program Required or Certificate under the completion of MRI technology program Required

Experience Qualifications Minimum one (1) year MRI experience Preferred

Skills and Abilities Understand and utilize anatomical positioning, physics MRI safety Critical thinking Time management Effective communication Proficiency in IV access for contrast media administration

Licenses and Certifications Magnetic Resonance Imaging - American Registry Radiologic Technologist or registry eligible (if eligible must obtain MR certification within 24 months of hire or transfer date) Required Radiography - South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association Preferred Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association is required within 30 days of hire. Recertification every two year Required

Requirements

Requires an Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology or a certificate in MRI technology. Must be ARRT certified in MRI or eligible, and BLS certified within 30 days of hire.
