About the role

Provide trauma-informed individual counseling and facilitate support groups for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Collaborate with advocacy teams to provide crisis intervention, shelter services, and connections to community resources.

The YWCA Greater Harrisburg is seeking a full-time professional to join our team as a Counselor and Support Group Facilitator. The Counselor and Support Group Facilitator provides trauma-informed, empowerment-based emotional support and advocacy to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and related forms of trauma. This role offers individual, empowerment-based counseling and facilitates support groups for survivors and non-offending loved ones. The Counselor and Support Group Facilitator works collaboratively with the advocacy team to ensure survivors receive comprehensive, compassionate, and culturally responsive services that promote resilience and recovery.

Position Details

Salary: $21/hr. Working Hours: 11am-7pm or 12pm - 8pm

Responsibilities

Provide trauma-informed, non-clinical support and individual counseling to survivors and their non-offending loved ones. Facilitate in-house and community-based support and psychoeducational groups. Collaborate with advocacy staff to connect participants with resources, safety planning, and referrals. Coordinate the annual support group schedule and maintain confidential client documentation. Provide crisis intervention, hotline support, shelter services, and medical/legal accompaniments. Serve as an on-call advocate and participate in team meetings, case reviews, and community outreach. Support program evaluation and continuous quality improvement initiatives. Successful Candidates Will Demonstrate: A professional, respectful, and inclusive approach. Accountability, self-motivation, and the ability to meet goals. Strong crisis intervention skills with the ability to remain calm and adaptable under pressure. Experience providing counseling, advocacy, or other direct human services. Knowledge of trauma, victim advocacy, and survivor-centered, trauma-informed practices. Excellent organizational, time management, documentation, and communication skills. Familiarity with community resources, legal systems, and law enforcement. Proficiency with computers and the ability to learn new case management software. Position Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field, plus at least two years of relevant counseling or direct service experience. Demonstrated commitment to empowerment-based, survivor-centered, and trauma-informed care. Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle for travel throughout Dauphin and Perry Counties (employee transportation only; mileage reimbursed). Current FBI, Pennsylvania Child Abuse, and Pennsylvania State Police Clearances. Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Human Services with at least two years of relevant direct service experience. Must possess a valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and current Pennsylvania state and FBI clearances.
