Position Summary

ORLANDO HEALTH – HEALTH CENTRAL HOSPITAL Located in Ocoee, Florida, Orlando Health – Health Central Hospital is a 252-bed comprehensive medical and surgical acute-care facility that has been serving the residents of west Orange County for more than 70 years.

Services range from 24/7 emergency care to cardiovascular and stroke care, neurosciences, oncology, orthopedics, minimally invasive robotic surgery and more.

Our hospital has accreditations and designations in many specialty services, including bariatric surgery, spine surgery, stroke, and hip and knee joint replacement.

We also have earned 2024-25 High Performing Hospital ratings in five areas – COPD, diabetes, heart attack, heart failure and hip replacement – from U.S.

News & World Report, and 2024 Top Teaching Hospital recognition from The Leapfrog Group.

Position Summary

Administers patient care in an area where patients come for treatment and typically return home the same day or care is provided in a post-acute transitional care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Essential Functions
  • Utilizes the unique knowledge, skills, and competencies required in ambulatory care nursing practice to promote wellness, restore health, address health-related situational problems, and/or support end-of-life care.
  • Serves as a clinical resource by precepting new hires.
  • Assesses patients’ needs and applies current ambulatory care nursing knowledge and evidence-based nursing practice when developing an individualized plan of care for each patient.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on assigned unit.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, assesses data reflective of the patient’s status, and interprets the information necessary to identify each patient’s requirements relative to age-specific needs.
  • Prescribes, delegates, coordinates, and documents patient care in a knowledgeable, skillful, and consistent manner. This includes, but is not limited to, patient assessment, education, medication administration, treatments, and patient safety.
  • Demonstrates competency in nursing skills and use of patient care/unit equipment as defined by unit-specific requisite skills.
  • Prioritizes patient care in an ongoing manner in accordance with Evidence-Based Practice Standards of Care.
  • Practices effective problem identification and resolution. Other Related Functions
  • Contributes to the knowledge and skills of others and to the continuous improvement of the quality of healthcare practice and organizational outcomes.
  • Participates in and may lead unit-level and/or organizational-level committees of nursing practice and performance improvement.
  • Participates in department and organizational peer review, mentoring, and coaching regarding professional practice or role performance.
  • Practices efficient use of supplies and maintains a clean, safe, and organized unit.
  • Provides input into staff development needs, hospital and/or nursing committees, nursing research activities, and performance management activities of co-workers and self.
  • Assumes responsibility for one’s own professional development and continuing education.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education/Training
  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
  • Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Orlando Health and unit/department. Licensure/Certification
  • Maintains current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
  • Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • ACLS, NRP, PALS, and TNCC are required for certain areas. Experience
  • One (1) year of experience required unless approved by director level or above.

Requirements

Requires graduation from an approved school of nursing and a current Florida RN license or Nurse Licensure Compact. Candidates must have BLS certification and typically one year of experience.
