The Speech-Language Pathologist evaluates and treats residents with communication, cognitive, swallowing, and speech disorders. The SLP works collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, families, and the interdisciplinary care team to maximize patient outcomes and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities Evaluate residents and establish individualized treatment plans. Provide speech, language, cognitive, communication, and swallowing therapy services. Complete accurate and timely documentation, progress notes, and billing. Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, families, and interdisciplinary team members. Participate in care planning and discharge planning meetings. Educate residents, caregivers, and facility staff on treatment strategies and maintenance programs. Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as appropriate. Maintain compliance with all federal, state, facility, and company guidelines. Support a positive, patient-centered rehabilitation environment.
Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred. Current Iowa Speech-Language Pathology license or eligibility to obtain licensure. Experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, rehabilitation, or geriatric settings preferred. Strong communication, documentation, and clinical decision-making skills.
