Surgical Technologists perform a variety of tasks in an operating room and assist the surgical team.
Incumbents arrange sterile setup for surgical procedures; pass instruments, sponges, and sutures to surgeons and surgical assistants; prepare sterile supplies; assist in the cleanup of the operating room; check the placement and operation of equipment; and check and restock the operating room.
During surgical procedures, incumbents may be responsible for special trays, grafting materials, and recording patient data.
Incumbents perform other related duties as required.
Senior Technologists also function in a specialty service, and utilize and troubleshoot service implementation and equipment, and are a resource to the other Surgical Technologists.
Requires a high school diploma and graduation from a Surgical Technologist training program with at least two years of experience in complex surgical cases. Active AHA CPR certification is mandatory, and certification as a Surgical Technician is preferred.
