About the role

Provide primary clinical support for an orthopaedic surgeon, including patient assessment, history taking, and assisting with injections. Manage administrative clinical tasks such as scheduling surgery, imaging, and coordinating with external healthcare providers.

We are looking for a talented RN, LVN, RN, or very experienced Medical Assistant to fill the role of primary clinical support for a busy orthopaedic surgeon. Duties include calling patients back to the exam room, assessing the need for X-ray evaluation before rooming patients, and obtaining a comprehensive history. The ideal candidate should be a strong multi-tasker, thrive in a demanding environment, and know about orthopaedic medical management. If you have previous experience in Orthopaedics or Sports Medicine, we would like to meet you.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with and drawing injections.
  • Input orders for imaging, PT, DME, orthotics, labs, and referrals.
  • Field patient phone calls and encounters dealing with topics like medications, treatments, test results, and surgery.
  • Knowledgeable in scheduling surgery and imaging.
  • Function as a role model and resource providing guidance to coworkers.
  • Confer with physicians to provide the highest level of customer and medical care.
  • Work collaboratively with all providers of care including PT, Home Health, Rehab, Hospital, DME providers, and Implant Representatives

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of clinical experience
  • Active License and/or Certification
  • Strong multi-tasking skills without sacrificing attention to detail.
  • Exposure to and knowledge around orthopaedic medical management

Preferences

  • Experience and proficiency in EMR systems
  • Proficient in removing staples and sutures from post-operative incision sites.
