About the role

Provides high-quality management of patient care as an on-call obstetrician, performing physical exams, diagnoses, and surgical treatments. Responsible for accurate medical record-keeping and implementing process improvements to enhance customer satisfaction.

Primary Purpose Responsible for providing direct and/or indirect health care services to assigned patient population.

Minimum Specifications Education Must have a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an approved college of Medicine/Osteopathy.

Experience Must be PY-2 or higher in good standing with University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center’s Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency Training Program.

Certification/Registration/Licensure Must have a valid unrestricted Texas Medical License.

Must have current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.

Must have and maintain for the duration of employment a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification OR Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Must meet and maintain licensing and registration requirements as delineated by the Graduate Medical Education Requirements for additional medically related work.

Skills or Special Abilities Must be able to determine objectives, set priorities and establish and meet target dates.

Must be able to work effectively with other health care professionals and serve as a resource to the community.

Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in meeting age related and disabled patients' needs.

Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.

Responsibilities

As assigned, provides high quality management of patient care. Performs as obstetrician on-call to include a wide variety of medical and surgical conditions including physical exams, history, assessment, diagnosis, planning and performing special treatments. Records health history, findings, treatment, and recommendations accurately, clearly and in a thorough, consistent, and prompt manner during each shift, and designates each note to be attested by the supervising faculty physician. Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding. Job Accountabilities Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Requirements

Must hold a Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy degree and be a PY-2 or higher in the UT Southwestern OB/GYN Residency Program. Requires a valid Texas Medical License, DEA registration, and BLS or ACLS certification.
