Dental Assistant I

Full Time

Nasson Health Care is seeking a qualified Dental Assistant I to work collaboratively with dental and interdisciplinary care team members to support the delivery of primary dental services within the Patient-Centered Medical Home model of care. Working within established workflows and protocols, this role provides foundational support in patient preparation, chair-side assisting, documentation, infection control, and care coordination.

Clinical Support Responsibilities

Collaborates with members of the dental care team to prepare for patient visits and help ensure indicated services are planned and delivered.

Prepares patients for provider visits by obtaining and recording accurate vital signs and relevant health and social history information, as applicable.

Prepares, stocks, and maintains exam rooms and treatment areas.

Provides chair-side assistance to the dentist and dental hygienist during examinations, procedures, and treatments.

Patient Care and Coordination

Documents patient care activities in the electronic health record and patient portal in accordance with established protocols.

Maintains aseptic technique and follows infection prevention and control standards.

Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of electronic health record systems.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one year of relevant experience preferred; experience within the health center may be considered in meeting this requirement.
  • Radiographic certification in Maine preferred, or ability to obtain certification within one year of hire.
  • Must not have an active record on the System for Award Management website.

Nasson Health Care is an eligible site for the National Health Service Corps. Student Loan Repayment Program.
