Job Description

Position Summary

Under the leadership of the department director, assistant director, nursing supervisor, and/or charge nurse, the registered nurse is responsible and accountable for planning, directing, assessing and providing nursing care according to the policies and procedures of the hospital and department. Important dimensions of this position consist of quality of care, professional commitment, teamwork, interpersonal skills, safety, good public/customer relations and a broad nursing knowledge. The registered nurse is an experienced nurse who shall orient new staff, precept students, and assume relief charge nurse duty as oriented and assigned. Applies the nursing process to perform circulating and/or scrub nurse duties for procedures throughout Surgical Services. Must be able to take call per hospital on-call policy guidelines. Experience A minimum of one year operating room nurse experience in an acute care hospital or multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center. Acute care hospital operating room experience within the last five years preferred. Computer documentation skills preferred. Scrub experience preferred. Education Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred. Must pass orientation and initial competency assessment prior to independent assignment of patients requiring the applicable skill, and must complete and pass all annual competencies. Licensure/Certifications State of California RN license required. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required. ACLS certification must be obtained prior to completion of orientation and independent assignment for those hired/transferred into Operating Room position on or after March 1, 2024 Existing employees must obtain ACLS certification by September 1, 2025. PALS certification preferred. Equal Opportunity Employer #LI-ES1 Assigned Work Hours: Full Time 10-hour shifts 0900-2130 Call required Position Type: Regular Pay Range (based on years of applicable experience): $72.83 to $97.40 The hours employees work determine when a shift differential is paid. Hourly Evening Shift Differential: $5.50 Hourly Night Shift Differential: $8.00

Requirements

Requires a California RN license, BLS certification, and at least one year of operating room experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting. A Bachelor's degree in nursing and ACLS/PALS certifications are preferred or required upon orientation.
