About the role

Responsible for the accurate collection and receiving of patient specimens in compliance with medical center and federal regulations. Performs bedside tests and enters critical data into hospital computer systems for billing and charting.

We are hiring for Laboratory Assistant position at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK!

Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, 8-hr Day shifts, 40 hours per week.

Provides efficient, accurate, and courteous service for PAMC patients or residents of Nursing Home Clients.

Provides accurate and timely collection and receiving of specimens for all patients in accordance with medical center and laboratory policies and procedures, and Federal/State regulations.

Performs bedside tests (bleeding times) as requested.

Accurately enters data into hospital and laboratory computer systems related to patient billing and charting.

Performs processing functions to assure integrity of specimens for testing.

Required Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or GED
  • 2 years Phlebotomy experience or one year phlebotomy experience in a clinical setting.
  • Less than one year experience will be considered for PAMC Lab employees of six months or greater with approval from Director.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in specimen processing.

Posted are the minimum and the maximum wage rates on the wage range for this position. The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
