About the role

Focuses on the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health disorders and behavioral issues for individuals, families, and groups. Responsibilities include providing therapeutic interventions and connecting students and staff to support systems for housing, financial, and mental health crises.

These roles focus on the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental health disorders, emotional disturbances, and behavioral issues. Professionals within this job family work with individuals, families, and groups to address psychological well-being and promote mental health through therapeutic interventions, counseling, and support services.

Licensed professionals who connect UVA students and staff to support systems that are available to address a variety of issues, such as housing, financial distress, mental health and crisis intervention.

Individual contributors with responsibility in a clinical discipline or specialty.

Typically involves diagnosing, treating, and caring for patients, and often include face-to-face interactions with patients.

May also spend some time designing and implementing clinical programs, policies, and services using specialized knowledge and skills.

Specialty license or certification required which is acquired through advanced education, training and/or experience.

This career stream will be most commonly applied to patient care and/or scientific/laboratory technologist jobs. ​ Requires basic knowledge of job procedures and tools obtained through work experience and require vocational or technical education.​ Works under moderate supervision.

Problems are typically of a routine nature but may at times require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures. ​ Communicates information that requires some explanation or interpretation​.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Master's degree in Social Work from a CSWE accredited social work program required.

Experience

No relevant experience required; Experience in the social work field; experience in health care settings is preferred.

Licensure

Expectation to become Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) guidelines found in departmental addendum located in department competency file. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job requires sitting for prolonged periods, standing/traveling or use of assistive and climbing (stairs, steps). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail, hear, speak, see, distinguish colors, read, ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull less than 20lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease. The pay range for this role is $57,907.20 - $92,643.20 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
