Department Overview The Spiritual Care team promotes the well-being of patients, caregivers and staff by building on their strengths, relationships, beliefs, values and sources of meaning. Children and those who support them receive equitable, culturally responsive care that honors diverse spiritual, religious and personal expressions, helping them cope with illness, loss, uncertainty and suffering through meaning, hope, connection and resilience.

Position Summary

Respond on-site within 30 minutes to deaths, traumas, medical emergencies, and other situations requiring crisis intervention, grief support, compassionate presence, advocacy for cultural spiritual practices, or staff support. Assess for spiritual, religious, cultural and personal strengths, resources, needs and hopes Provide interventions that address needs, reduce distress, and strengthen coping. Facilitate culturally appropriate spiritual, religious, and cultural practices related to birth, surgery, serious illness, organ donation, and death. Coordinate care with faith communities, spiritual leaders, and other sources of support. Document spiritual assessments, interventions, and outcomes to support continuity of care and follow-up by the Spiritual Care team.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree of at least 30 hours from a CHEA-accredited institution in a field of study that includes history of traditions, spiritual practices, sacred/foundational texts, and world religions, or equivalent preparation recognized by the applicant's spiritual tradition. 4 units (1600 hours) of Clinical Pastoral Education accredited by NACC, CASC, or a BCCI-approved provider (ACPE, CCC, CPEI, CPSP, or ICPT) Current endorsement for chaplaincy by the applicant’s tradition. Commitment to equitable, culturally responsive care, interdisciplinary collaboration, and professional ethics.

Preferred Qualifications

Two years' experience in healthcare setting, pediatrics preferred. Membership in APC, NACC, NAJC, or CASC Board Certification

The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. Annual salaries displayed are based on full-time employment (40 standard hrs per week). Annual salaries for part-time positions will be prorated based on the employee’s scheduled weekly hours in relation to the full-time standard. When determining individual pay rates, we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, internal equity and organizational needs.

In addition to your salary, this position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night, weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.

All job offers are contingent upon successful completion of an occupational health assessment, drug screen, background investigation, and compliance with the U.S. Government Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification.
