Position Summary

A clinical competent registered professional nurse who delivers patient care through the nursing process, including assessment, planning and delivery of care, patient education and delegation of nursing care.

Requires both cognitive and technical skills to work with complex equipment, and assist physician specialists with performance of endoscopic and other diagnostic and therapeutic procedures specific to the GI Laboratory.

Work entails interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with physicians, hospital staff, offices, patients, families and other guests.

Job requires knowledge, skills and ability to provide psychosocial and cultural age-related care from adolescent through geriatric population.

Accountable to the patient and family for care provided, and to the patient care manager for the totality of performance.

Meets all standards and requirements of the LMH universal job description.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve operational issues related to scheduling.
  • Follow Procedural Sedation monitoring protocols.
  • Appropriately collect and label all tissue and other specimens.
  • Protect equipment from damage due to improper handling or use.
  • Demonstrate and validate proper technique related to cleaning, disinfecting and storing of endoscopes.
  • Appropriately communicates with all team members, patients, and family.
  • Document proficiency in GI specialty software application.

Requirements

  • Call Hours - Required with a 30-minute response time
  • Maintain Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Ohio.
  • Maintain certification in CPR, basic arrhythmia, and airway management.
  • Complete and maintain ALS certification.
  • Formulate nursing plan of care.
  • Document pertinent info relative to patient condition.
  • Assess and respond to patient needs.
  • Understand new technology quickly.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems.
  • LMH is accredited by DNV and TJC, and as such, may require specific annual education related to specialty certifications and standards.
