Vera French is looking for Direct Support Staff to help support our clients by teaching daily living skills, providing protective oversight and promoting physical and emotional health.
This may include teaching a client how to ride the bus, proper hygiene, taking them to appointments, etc.
The Direct Support position is a crucial role for our clients well-being and for Vera French as a whole!
This role is very rewarding! (Note: schedule is generally every other weekend.) WHAT YOU'LL DO: Stay informed of, and follow, regulations and procedures for each services provided Facilitate group learning and support activities as assigned in order to meet the needs of the clients as well as client interests, and goals as defined by the interdisciplinary team Monitor clients' ability to take medications independently and/or pass medications according to physician's orders and report any side effects WHAT YOU'LL NEED: A valid driver's license with a driving record that will allow insurability Ability to pass a pre-employment physical with a drug and alcohol screen Previous experience working with the chronically mentally ill population Every other weekend availability CPR certification preferred Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Human Services field with 30 semester hours or equivalent in a human services field and at least OR High school diploma or equivalent with minimum of two years of experience in behavioral or mental health services and 30 hours of crisis and mental health in-service trainings Share Our Values: We are united by our shared values of community service, compassion, empowerment, respect, resourcefulness and professionalism.

I authorize the release of this information by the appropriate agencies to the investigating service. I authorize and give permission for the individuals listed as references to provide written information and/or verbally discuss my background with Vera French Community Mental Health Center, or any of its affiliates.
This authorization, in original or copy form, shall be valid for this and any future reports and updates that may be required. I understand that passing the background check is a condition of employment. A negative background check can be grounds for dismissal, even if an offer has been made to me and I have been hired.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a high school diploma with at least two years of behavioral/mental health experience. Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to pass a pre-employment physical and background check.
