About the role

The pharmacist is responsible for dispensing medications and interpreting prescriptions while ensuring therapeutic appropriateness and safety. They also manage technician workflows, conduct patient counseling, and maintain compliance with legal and accreditation standards.

Cancer Specialists of North Florida is recruiting a Pharmacist for our busy Specialty Practice. The Pharmacist position works under minimal supervision, responsible for dispensing medications, drugs and other medications according to professional standards and practices. This includes preparing and maintaining all necessary records on prescriptions, patient charges and inventory, consulting with nursing and medical staff regarding prescriptions, ordering drugs and pharmaceutical detail, and handling any patient reactions, errors and complaints. In addition to these tasks, the Pharmacist also initiates and follows quality assurance and safety policies and procedures while monitoring compliance with all legal regulations and accreditation organizations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following

  • Prepares and dispenses medication orders.
  • Receives new non written prescriptions or receives any change in medication, strength, or directions of an existing prescription.
  • Interprets prescriptions or medication orders for therapeutic acceptability and appropriateness.
  • Calculates correct medication dosages, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents.
  • Conducts final verification of dosage and directions.
  • Engages in prospective drug review.
  • Monitors prescription usage
  • Transfers prescriptions
  • Organizes and directs technician’s workflow; verifying their preparations and labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries, charges and inspections.
  • Engages in patient counseling and chemo education.
  • Maintains patient education materials.
  • All other duties as assigned

PRN position

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or Pharm D from an accredited school of pharmacy and state licensure.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Current license as pharmacist in state of practice required.
  • Certified to administer immunizations in state of practice.

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree or PharmD from an accredited school of pharmacy and hold a current state pharmacist license. Certification to administer immunizations in the state of practice is also required.
