Guaranteed hours: 40 per week.

Responsibilities

  • Decontaminates and processes instruments; assembles instrument sets and trays; counts and documents instruments
  • Sterilizes instruments, trays, basins, and related items with proper exposure/dry times; prepares instruments for immediate-use sterilization when needed
  • Maintains a clean, orderly department environment; assists with autoclave maintenance and room turnover as needed
  • Performs daily diagnostic testing on sterilizing equipment, including test packs and biological indicators; evaluates instrument function and safety after reprocessing
  • Supports reprocessing services for ancillary departments; tracks loaner instruments and maintains related logs

Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma/GED required; Associate/Technical degree or equivalent preferred
  • Licenses/Certifications: Sterile Processing Technician certification preferred; current BLS certification
  • Experience: At least two years of recent experience in the field
  • Licensing: Current nursing license per the state of assignment
  • Vaccinations: All required vaccinations as a condition of employment
  • Ability to work in a short-term acute care hospital setting and meet the 40-hour weekly schedule
