Who We’re Looking For

A successful Mental Health Therapist enjoys working with people from diverse backgrounds and doesn’t shy away from honest and caring — yet sometimes difficult — conversations. This position is for you if you’re able to treat others with dignity, compassion, and respect, even in life’s most challenging moments.

What you'll do at gaudenzia

1.

To evaluate, treat, and diagnose clients who have a mental health disorder or dually-diagnosed 2.

Schedule or assist with the scheduling of clinical and/or support staff to ensure adequate coverage during all shifts.

3.

Continue special training in areas designated by the Supervisor.

4.

Keep records such as bio-psycho-history & assessments, evaluations and keep client case records current according to the established guidelines.

5.

Be a role model for pro-social behaviors.

6.

Be available for weekend and/or evening duty.

7.

Be responsible for a full client caseload and act as a lead counselor.

8.

Support and demonstrate adherence to Gaudenzia’s Code of Ethics, Code of Conduct and all personnel policies and procedures.

9.

Be responsible for re-entry residents or others needing advanced care.

10.

Maintain a valid driver’s license and appropriate professional certificates and credentials.

11.

Be responsible for orientation of new staff members when the Supervisor is not available.

12.

Moderate special groups such as marathons, extended groups, family meetings, workshops or presentations.

13.

All other duties as described in the Unit Unique Job Description or as assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications

for This Role:

  • This position requires that candidates must possess a Master’s Degree and independent license to practice such as a D.C. board approved LCSW, LPC, LMFT, LGADC, LGPC, LCADC, LCPC and/ or LMSW with candidates being able to have their own supervision provided outside of our agency.
  • At least 5 years' experience working in an outpatient or acute care Behavioral Health treatment setting. Demonstrated knowledge of working with Criminal Justice involved and/or homeless populations.

Requirements
