About the role

The Embryologist is responsible for preparing media and performing critical IVF lab procedures, including insemination, embryo culture, and biopsy. They also maintain specialized laboratory equipment and manage patient data and records.

Job Description

Prepares and stocks media for In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) lab procedures and operating room procedures. Prepares culture dishes for egg retrievals, insemination, embryo culture, and embryo transfer procedures; retrieves oocytes, prepares sperm, performs insemination, cultures embryos, performs micromanipulation procedures for assisted fertilization, hatching, and biopsy and loads catheter for embryo transfer. Freezes supernumerary embryos, thaws embryos; selects and prepares embryos for transfer. Keeps patient records and data.

Job Responsibility

Prepares culture media; performs daily QC procedures.

Maintains IVF equipment including incubators, isolates, microscopes, CO2 tanks, and liquid nitrogen tanks; collects and processes eggs.

Prepares sperm for standard insemination and Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI).

Prepares Microsurgical Epididymal Sperm Aspirates (MESA) and Testicular biopsy Specimen Extraction (TESE) for ICSI.

Prepares eggs for insemination and ICSI.

Performs insemination and ICSI.

Performs embryo biopsy.

Selects and prepares embryos for transfer; freezes and thaws embryos.

Evaluates accuracy and technical quality of laboratory tests.

Job Qualification

Master's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

1-3 years of relevant experience, required.
