About the role

Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining vital signs and documenting chief complaints, medications, and allergies. Assist specialists with medical exams and procedures while promoting healthy lifestyles and wellness education.

Work Schedule

Part-time, 8-hour day shifts. Shifts are Tuesday 8

00 AM – 12:00 PM and anytime on Wednesday or Thursday. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department.

Pay

The Specialty Care Free Clinic is the only clinic in South-Central Wisconsin to offer free specialty care to uninsured patients. We are dedicated to providing consultative diagnostic and therapeutic healthcare services to low income uninsured adult patients living in and around the Dane County area of South-Central Wisconsin who are referred by primary care providers.

We are currently seeking a Medical Assistant (MA, CMA, RMA, CCMA, LPN) to

  • Join our specialists who provide a broad range of basic and specialized medical medical care
  • Provide quality care in a compassionate and patient-family centered environment
  • Prepare patients for examination, obtain vital signs, document chief complaint, medications, and allergies, and assist with exams and procedures
  • Promote healthy lifestyles, wellness, and education

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and ONE of the following Required
  • Completion of an accredited medical assistant program or
  • Licensure as an LPN or
  • Completion of the UWH Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program or an Employee Partner Medical Assistant Program or
  • Attainment of the CCMA certification as a UWH employee or
  • Acceptance into the UWH MA Apprenticeship Program – Accelerated or
  • One year of recent Medical Assistant experience and CMA, RMA or CCMA Certification
  • Work Experience
  • 1 year of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant or LPN Preferred
  • Licenses & Certifications
  • Certified as MA, CMA, RMA, or CCMA within 1 Year Required or
  • Licensure as an LPN Upon Hire Required
  • If applying in lieu of Medical Assistant education or LPN licensure, must have current CMA, RMA, or CCMA certification Upon Hire Required
  • CPR/BLS certification Upon Hire Required

Requirements

Requires a high school diploma and completion of an accredited medical assistant program, LPN licensure, or specific UWH apprenticeship/certification. Must possess CPR/BLS certification and a valid MA or LPN credential upon hire.
