About the role

The Registered Nurse performs systematic patient assessments and formulates goal-directed care plans based on nursing diagnoses. They implement skilled nursing care, manage emergency situations, and maintain accurate documentation while working collaboratively within a team.

Qualifications

  • Degree from accredited nursing program.
  • Current Texas RN License.
  • BLS certification.
  • ACLS or successful completion within 60 days of hire date.
  • 2 years’ experience
  • Must possess organizational skills to function in a fast paced OR environment.
  • Experience in phase II level of care
  • Certification in CMSRN preferred
  • Completion of De-escalation training within 30 days of hire

Occupational exposure

Category I exposure to blood borne pathogens, frequent exposure to chemical hazards and radiation hazards.

Responsibilities

  • 1.
  • Performs assessment/data collection in an ongoing and systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, psychological and cognitive status.
  • 2.
  • Formulates a goal directed plan of acre, which is prioritized and based on determined nursing diagnosis and patient outcomes.
  • 3.
  • Implements care in a knowledgeable, skilled consistent manner in reaching the desired patient outcomes through nursing processes.
  • 4.
  • Establish priorities of patient care based on essential patient needs and available center resources of time, personnel, equipment and supplies.
  • 5.
  • Performs efficiently in emergency patient situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons and documenting events.
  • 6.
  • Demonstrates applied knowledge base in areas of medical/surgical patient care, pain assessment and actions of pharmaceuticals and anesthetic agents, laboratory values, safety and legal issues and all emergency equipment.
  • 7.
  • Practices effective problem identification and resolution skills as a method of sound decision making.
  • 8.
  • Performs documentation duties on the floor and in the patient record, which is timely, accurate and concise.
  • 9.
  • Works as part of a team in delivering patient care.
  • 10.
  • Maintains BLS and ACLS certification as required.
  • 11.
  • Attends all mandatory in services and participates in staff meetings.
  • 12.
  • Remains flexible, adaptive and able to accept and implement new ideas and approaches.
  • 13.
  • Treats all patients equally adopting the hospital’s Patient Rights policy.
  • 14.
  • Reviews and carries out physician orders in an appropriate professional manner.
  • 15.
  • Willingness to assist with other duties when asked.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a degree from an accredited nursing program and a current Texas RN license. Two years of experience, BLS certification, and the ability to obtain ACLS certification within 60 days are required.
