About the role

Provide companionship, respite care, and bereavement support to hospice patients and their families. Perform administrative office tasks to support hospice staff and facilitate memorial celebrations.

Volunteer Description

Unpaid volunteer contributing time to Intermountain Healthcare in various roles.

Patient care: Offer companionship and support to hospice patients and their families, including social visits, reading, playing games or writing personal history.

Respite

Care: Relieve caregivers who are physically and emotionally exhausted from providing care for a loved one, allowing caregivers to run errands, exercise, or simply have some time alone.

Bereavement

Support: Provide support to families and help them through the death and grieving process. Create hand molds of patients. Work closely with social workers and chaplains to facilitate memorial celebrations and follow up with families.

Office

Support: Provide administrative services to the hospice staff. Tasks may include sending birthday cards, assembling mailing packets, and assisting in hospice events.

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Able to stay calm in stressful situations
