Qualifications
Technologists must be registered and in good standing with the ARDMS with credentialing in physics, vascular and abdominal preferred.
Maintains certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
Occupational exposure
Category I exposure to bloodborne pathogens, frequent exposure to chemical hazards and may encounter radiation hazards.
Responsibilities
- 1.
- Under the indirect supervision of the Radiologist, performs the full range of diagnostic Ultrasound procedures as per the established Radiologist protocols.
- Assist physicians with invasive US biopsy procedures.
- 2.
- Performs and evaluates ultrasound images exams providing accurate documentation and images of procedure(s) results.
- Communicates pertinent information to the Radiologist regarding the procedure & findings.
- 3.
- Demonstrates competence in utilizing all imaging support equipment to include transducers, multi-format cameras, printers, RIS and PACS system.
- 4.
- Maintains inventory of all required procedure supplies.
- 5.
- Maintains exams room in an orderly and safe condition.
- 6.
- Comprehensively explains the ultrasound process and procedure to the patient and answers any questions the patient has regarding the procedure to alleviate any patient anxiety.
- 7.
- Accurately operates all functions of the RIS system to include entering orders and charging of all procedures.
- 8.
- Displays superior interpersonal skills with patients and peers.
- 9.
- Reports any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdown immediately to supervisor.
- 10.
- Attends all required safety training programs and describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards.
- 11.
- Maintains proper working condition of all equipment; promptly reports any equipment variances or malfunctions to the supervisor.
- 12.
- Maintains competencies in all Ultrasound procedures.
- 13.
- Assists in other areas of the Imaging department when not performing Ultrasound procedures.
- 14.
- Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous hospital environment.
- 15.
- Operate and maintain high level disinfection of all probes via Trophon.
