Our team consists of experienced emergency medicine attending physicians and residents, advanced practice providers, emergency nurses, mental health specialists, social workers, and case managers. We have a specialized pediatric emergency department staffed by board certified pediatricians and pediatric emergency medicine specialists. Position summary

As a Emergency Department Technician in our Emergency Department (ED), you will be a key member of the healthcare team at BMC.

Under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse (RN) and in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of practice, our Emergency Department Technicians provide direct clinical and support services.

Using our patient-centered care model and uplifted by a supportive nursing organization, you will participate in the delivery of care to our patients and their families.

You will also work cooperatively with all healthcare team members to provide a variety of support services to meet patient, family, and staff needs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform a variety of appropriately delegated patient care interventions for patients in the ED and their families.

Clinical services could include, but are not limited to: obtaining vital signs, bathing and feeding, dressing wounds, assisting with hygiene, cleaning rooms and linens, and emotional support.

Perform a variety of environmental and inventory activities to ensure a safe, clean, and appropriately equipped environment for patients, visitors, and staff in the ED.

Contribute to the efficient operation of the ED, ensuring quality patient/family clinical outcomes.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: A high school diploma or GED certificate Ability to communicate effectively in English with staff and patients A current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross Ability to pass clinical competency testing Physical ability to meet job responsibilities Basic math and computer proficiency Previous experience of direct patient care One of the following: Currently enrolled in a nursing program and have completed two cycles of clinical rotation Completed an approved Emergency Medical Technician training program Completed an approved Certified Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Technician, or Medical Assistant training program Previous experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Technician, or Medical Assistant JOB BENEFITS: Competitive pay Tuition reimbursement programs Highly subsidized medical, dental, and vision insurance options High provider-to-patient ratios that often exceed state standards for quality and safety Supportive work environment with a focus on training, development, and growth Access to Pathways, a leadership acceleration program increasing inclusion and diversity at the leadership level across Boston Medical Center Health System NursingAsst Compensation Range: $24.09- $28.22 This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications.

Requirements

Requires a high school diploma or GED and a current BLS certification. Candidates must have previous direct patient care experience or have completed a recognized training program such as EMT, CNA, PCT, or MA.
