About the role

Operates radiographic equipment to produce high-quality bone density images for physician diagnosis. Manages patient data, performs DEXA scans according to protocols, and maintains professional clinical documentation.

Job Summary

Under indirect supervision, operates radiographic equipment to produce radiographs of structures in the human body that are utilized by physicians for the diagnosis of disease processes, and/or pathology. Utilizes technical judgment and skills to ensure that produced radiographs are of the highest diagnostic quality and demonstrate the area(s) of interest.

Essential Responsibilities

Maintains patient information and test files/data bases Interviews patients to confirm/obtain necessary history Explains radiographic procedures to patient Operates radiographic equipment, and, performs for imaging tests as stipulated in the work assignment as defined in the scope of certification Where applicable, performs bone densitometry testing as per orders/requisition and standard protocols including the archiving of pre-and post-test data where applicable Properly positions patient for imaging and/or scanning Reviews completed scans for requisite information and anatomical areas of interest as per imaging protocol Prints out data reports and provides bone densitometry scan/patient record to authorized recipients as required Enters clinical data into computerized data base(s) Provide as needed weekly, monthly regular reports/summaries of tests performed Complies with all continuing education requirements Establishes and maintains systems for patient test results and follow-up. Responds to the needs of others by maintaining a professional behavior toward members and coworkers and creating a positive image for the organization. Identifies the impact of cultural diversity and lifestyle choices on patient condition and makes accommodations for such differences. Utilizes proper body mechanics. Demonstrates an understanding of the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological maturation process in delivery of services to patients of the age group served. Documents clinical activities in a timely, comprehensive, and accurate manner. Observes all organizational, regional, and medical service area policies and procedures. Maintains standards of professional behavior established to enhance quality of service. Utilizes effective communication skills. Exhibits professional conduct in all interactions with patients and staff. Meets productivity norms established by the department. May perform other related duties as requested/required

Basic Qualifications

Experience See other requirements. Education Successful completion of a formal limited x-ray training program in Bone Densitometry (DEXA). License, Certification, Registration Bone Densitometry Technologist Permit (California) Additional Requirements:

Preferred Qualifications

1-2 years of recent experience in DEXA within the last 5 years.

Requires completion of a formal limited x-ray training program in Bone Densitometry and a California Bone Densitometry Technologist Permit. Preference is given to candidates with 1-2 years of recent DEXA experience.
