About the role

The Surgical Technologist maintains sterile conditions and ensures all necessary instruments and supplies are available for the surgical team. They provide primary scrub support and assist with technical responsibilities during operative procedures.

Competitive salary, medical/dental/vision benefits, paid time off, flexible work schedules, and retirement plans A Brief Overview The Surgical Technologist maintains sterile conditions, anticipates the needs of the surgical team, and ensures that all instruments and supplies are available and properly handled. The first level in the Surgical Technologist career ladder. What You Will Do Provide safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients/families using nursing interventions in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status. Provide patient care/function in a primary scrub position. Assist with technical responsibilities in assigned operative procedures. Assure appropriate instruments/supplies are present and in proper working condition. Provide labeled medications with correct doses on the sterile field. Support the operative team, includes following patient care hand off protocol. Actively participate in the quality improvement process. Involved in learning and self-improvement. Additional Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards. For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation. Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.

Education Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program (Required) Certification is preferred but not required Work Experience Thorough knowledge of asepsis, instrumentation, suture and surgical procedures. (Required) Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Thorough knowledge of asepsis, instrumentation, suture and surgical procedures. (Required proficiency) Use a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient care needs and prescribed medical therapies. Requirements

Candidates must be graduates of an accredited Surgical Technologist program and possess thorough knowledge of asepsis and instrumentation. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 90 days of hire.
