The technician assists physicians with endoscopy procedures and ensures the safety and care of patients in the suite. They are also responsible for the cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of endoscopy and operating room instrumentation.
Under the direction of the RN, the endoscopy technician is responsible for assisting with the care and safety of the patient in the endoscopy suite.
Other duties include assisting physician with endoscopy procedure and processing of endoscopy equipment.
The endoscopy technician is responsible for performing a range of support activities that contribute to the overall efficiency of the perioperative, endoscopy and CSD areas.
Work involves inventorying, disassembling, cleaning, high level disinfection, sterilization, reassembling, and maintaining operating room and endoscopy instrumentation/equipment.
The endoscopy technician performs in between case cleaning and terminal cleaning.

Assists physician with endoscopy procedure Cleaning of endoscopes: High level disinfection Performs disinfection and sterilization of instrumentation in the central service department Processes all instruments for the operating room according to manufucterer's recommendations Updates and maintains IFU's related to endoscopy/operating room equipment and instrumentation Performs specimen handling in the endoscopy suite Performs documentation and logs related to sterilization including temperature and humidity logs, eye wash log, and instrument/equipment repair log Assists with transporting and positioning of patients Performs other duties as assigned
