The patient flow Rep collaborates with nursing and ancillary departments to ensure appropriate placement of patients based on diagnosis, physician preference with consideration of bed availability at both MercyOne Des Moines/West Des Moines campuses. Responsible for monitoring census capacity and alerting the leadership team upon thresholds for activation of Peak Capacity Plan level activation. Responsible for bed flow functions including bed ordering, appropriate room assignments, assisting with direct admit requests and maintaining accurate bed availability information. Job Duties Maintains knowledge of floor specialty and physician preferences related to patient placement Aide with creation and updating of Clinical Road Maps and Patient Placement protocols Communicate and coordinate high priority patient movement and navigate barriers to patient placement Utilizes knowledge of current census information and potential inpatient bed needs to project accurate and appropriate placement of incoming patients. Act as an expert and Super-User for Bed Management software platform Assists with Transfer Center calls and communicating priorities to transfer center RNs. Details hand-off of information to next shift related to pending bed activity, admissions, discharges and transfers Hours: Nights - 1900-0730. 3-12’s. No set days 12 hours shifts
High school diploma or GED required. Knowledge of Medical Terminology required.
