Provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice for behavioral health patients. Collaborates with the interprofessional team to support a safe, therapeutic environment and high-quality outcomes.
Reports to: Director or Manager of Department
Performs plan-of-care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care activities.
Documents patient care provided in a timely and accurate manner.
Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific for the patient’s age.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and families.
Assists patients with activities of daily living (hygiene, elimination, nutrition, ambulation).
Assists physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.
Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate care (transfers, discharges, referrals, and psychosocial/spiritual support needs).
Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of the patients and their families.
Assesses learning needs and delivers age-/culture-appropriate patient and family education.
Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
Participates in unit and organizational performance improvement and required continuing education.
Provides quality patient care and works other shifts/units as needed; may be assigned on call.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Requires a current North Carolina RN license, an Associate Degree in Nursing, and BLS certification from the American Heart Association. One year of experience is preferred, though new graduates are encouraged to apply.
