General Summary

To provide a clean and safe environment through non-medical tasks/duties for residents based on their service plan and in accordance with policies and procedures, current federal, state and facility standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility, and as may be required by the Assisted Living Manager, or Wellness Nurse to ensure that the highest degree of services are offered and provided at all times.

Duties and Responsibilities

This description is intended only to identify the basic responsibilities and requirements of this job classification and does not prevent the assignment of other job-related duties. Successful job applicants will be able to perform these essential functions with or without requested reasonable accommodation. 1. Assists new residents in orientation to their assigned apartments and common areas of the Woodlands. 2. Provides support and encouragement in a positive manner to AL residents to remain independent. 3. Required to provide assistance with ADL’s when needed by residents as determined by service package; tasks may include but are not limited to assistance with dressing, bathing, bed making, laundry, toileting, transferring and light housekeeping. 4. Assists with wheelchair transportation of residents to various areas of the Woodlands and on campus as needed. 5. May be required to assist the resident with activities that are provided in the Woodlands and on campus which may include but not limited to transporting resident, conducting the activity and the clean-up thereafter. 6. Provides medication reminders to residents whose service package includes medication reminders. 7. Provides and communicates resident information as requested to the AL Manager, Wellness Nurse or Lead Resident Assistant, emergency personnel and other staff members. 8. May be required to assist in the AL dining room with food set-up items, menu selection, and tray delivery. 9. Maintains daily log of services provided for record keeping system. Ensuring all paper and/or electronic record keeping is maintained. 10. Build positive & supporting relationships and demonstrate ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner. 11. Follows work assignments, and/or work schedules, completing and performing assigned tasks in a timely manner. 12. Attends in-services, meetings and educational training in accordance with Cantata Adult Life Services’ policies and procedures. 13. Performs tasks/duties and utilize forms in accordance with Cantata Adult Life Services’ policies and procedures.

Requirements

A. Knowledge/Skill/Experience High school graduate or equivalent. Prior care giving experience preferred. Current CPR certification. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form with a diverse group of people. Ability and willingness to work harmoniously within a team environment departmentally. Aptitude for detail work as well as understand and meet job responsibility time frames. Ability to determine, understand and maintain cleanliness issues. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility Must meet general health requirements as set forth by this facility. Must be able to manually push, pull, and/or move, a minimum of 50 pounds frequently for brief periods of time. Must be able to manually lift a minimum of 10 pounds frequently for brief periods of time. Must be able to walk, stand, sit and bend frequently for moderate periods of time. May be requested to work over scheduled hours, weekends and holidays when necessary Individual will be scheduled based on operational need. May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
