The LVN provides direct patient care and supports providers in an ambulatory urology setting. Responsibilities include administering medications, performing clinical procedures, and auditing operations to ensure regulatory compliance.
At NorthBay Health, the Licensed Vocational Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care in support of a provider in an ambulatory care setting. Distribution of staff and patients may require reassignment to other nursing areas. The Licensed Vocational Nurse is responsible for monitoring and auditing clinic operations to ensure adherence to regulatory and professional standards.
1. Provides direct patient care according per organizational policies and procedures.
2. Prepares patient for provider including vital signs and collection of clinical data.
3. Administers medications to patients, including, oral, injections, IV’s and nebulizer treatments as ordered by provider.
4. Assists provider and/or performs procedures in assigned area within scope of practice.
5. Documents patient encounters according to nursing policies.
6. Reviews preventative guidelines.
7. Keeps an inventory and prepares orders for supplies.
8. Actively participates in QI activities.
9. Presents a professional demeanor in appearance and attitude.
10. Provides laboratory (phlebotomy) coverage as needed.
11. Performs audits to ensure adherence to regulatory and professional standards.
12. Assists with the medication reconciliation/medication refill process relative to the electronic medical record.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.
14. Floats to other areas as needed.
Candidates must have completed an accredited LVN program and hold a current California LVN license. IV certification and CPR certification are required, with one year of ambulatory care experience preferred.
