Job Description

Centerstone is pleased to offer a Fall/Winter Graduate Clinical Internship for students currently enrolled in a Doctoral program in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related behavioral health field. This internship provides an opportunity for students to gain supervised clinical experience working with individuals and families receiving mental and behavioral health services in a community-based outpatient setting. Internship Overview Graduate interns will work closely with licensed clinicians and Centerstone staff to develop clinical skills while providing supervised behavioral health services to community members of all ages. Interns will gain experience in assessment, treatment planning, documentation, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions. Student Responsibilities Under the supervision of licensed behavioral health professionals, interns will: Participate in clinical training and supervision provided by Centerstone staff Observe and gradually participate in individual and family therapy sessions Conduct therapy sessions with individuals and families under supervision Assist with clinical assessments, treatment planning, and documentation Collect and maintain client data and clinical records Participate in multidisciplinary team collaboration and case discussions Support program operations and clinical workflows as appropriate Engage in professional development opportunities throughout the internship Work Schedule 20–40 hours per week Clinic hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Internship schedule may be flexible depending on program requirements Internship placement located in Clarksville, Tennessee

Qualifications

Candidates must: Be actively enrolled in a Doctoral program in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, or a related behavioral health discipline Be eligible for clinical internship or practicum credit through their academic program Demonstrate interest in working with children, adolescents, adults, and families Possess strong organizational and communication skills Be able to work independently while managing multiple priorities Be detail-oriented with the ability to support data collection and documentation Commit to 20–40 hours per week during the internship period Learning Opportunities Interns will gain valuable hands-on experience including: Exposure to a wide range of mental health diagnoses and treatment approaches Clinical skill development in individual, family, and behavioral health interventions Experience working with diverse populations across the lifespan Participation in interdisciplinary behavioral health teams Professional mentorship and clinical supervision Enhanced professional readiness for post-graduate licensure and employment This experience often strengthens students’ professional development and increases marketability following graduation.

Additional Information

Students selected for the internship will be required to complete the Centerstone onboarding process, including: Background check Submission of five (5) professional or academic references This is an unpaid internship intended for academic credit through the student’s graduate program.
