  • Purpose: - The Certified Peer Support Specialist at Behavioral Health Services Inc. is dedicated to providing empathetic and effective support to individuals navigating mental health and substance use challenges. This role focuses on leveraging personal experience and knowledge to foster a supportive environment that encourages recovery, resilience, and personal growth.

  • Responsibilities: - Offer one-on-one peer support to clients, sharing personal experiences to inspire hope and motivation. - Collaborate with clinical teams to develop and implement individualized recovery plans. - Facilitate group sessions that promote mutual support and shared experiences among clients. - Assist clients in identifying and accessing community resources and services to aid in their recovery journey. - Advocate for clients' needs and rights within the organization and the broader community. - Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions and progress. - Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in peer support and behavioral health. - Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that respects the diverse backgrounds and experiences of all clients.

  • Education: - High school diploma or equivalent; certification in peer support or related field is preferred.

  • Experience: - Minimum of 1 year of experience in a mental health or substance use recovery setting. - Personal experience with mental health or substance use challenges and demonstrated recovery. - Experience working in a team-oriented environment, preferably within behavioral health services.

Requirements

Candidates must have a high school diploma and at least one year of experience in a mental health or recovery setting. Personal lived experience with mental health or substance use challenges and demonstrated recovery are required.
