About the role

Performs diagnostic MRI imaging procedures while adhering to safety principles and ensuring high-quality image acquisition. Responsible for patient assessment, contrast administration, and the supervision of student technologists.

Position Summary

ORLANDO HEALTH – HEALTH CENTRAL HOSPITAL Located in Ocoee, Florida, Orlando Health – Health Central Hospital is a 252-bed comprehensive medical and surgical acute-care facility that has been serving the residents of west Orange County for more than 70 years.

Services range from 24/7 emergency care to cardiovascular and stroke care, neurosciences, oncology, orthopedics, minimally invasive robotic surgery and more.

Position Summary

Provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention while adhering to MRI safety principles. Shift Friday/Saturday/Sun- 7a-7p

Responsibilities

  • Essential Functions
  • Performs diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy and/or physiology for interpretation and/or intervention.
  • Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
  • Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
  • Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
  • Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and strategic imperatives.
  • Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age specific needs.
  • Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
  • Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and assures that the information is accurately documented.
  • Positions patient, equipment, associated devices, and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation.
  • Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
  • Applies principles of MRI safety to patients, self, and others.
  • Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in contrast medication administration with and without use of power injectors.
  • Performs venipuncture and evaluates IV access for the purpose of contrast administration as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Administers medical aid as required in cases of adverse reactions to contrast medication and/or other emergencies.
  • Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
  • Assists in supervision of student technologists and training of new technologists.
  • Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
  • Ensures safety of all customers.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies, department guidelines, and education requirements. Other Related Functions
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.

Qualifications

Experience Mandatory minimum of two (2) years MRI experience and experience in one or more of the following areas: Advanced imaging experience and proficiency, including 3D Lab, IR procedural imaging, Breast imaging or Cardiac imaging. Site proctor/preceptor for onboarding new hires and cross-training. Primary responsibility: Dual imaging roles, with current proficiency and routinely performing in secondary modality Must have one (1) of the following: Valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification OR, Valid American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification OR, Valid Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) certification Valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification (MRI) or Graduate of an approved MRI technologist program through American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification. Valid Certified Radiologic Technologist licensure by the State of Florida (Preferred).

Requirements

Requires a minimum of two years of MRI experience with proficiency in advanced imaging and a valid ARRT, ARDMS, or NMTCB certification. Must hold a current BLS certification and be a graduate of an approved MRI program.
