Summary

This position offers a sign on bonus up to $6,000.00 Applies to external candidates only. Please Note: This position offers an initial guaranteed salary, with a planned transition to a full production compensation model after 6–12 months based on established practice volume and productivity. Performs functions as outlined, not to exceed WA state RCW 18.53.010. Position Reports To: Practice Manager

Essential Functions

Perform primary vision care, including the examinations of the human eye, analysis of the vision system, and the determination of the refractive powers of the eye.

Performs tasks to obtain prescription and also the fitting of lenses, prisms, and therapeutic or refractive contact lenses.

Diagnoses and treats eye disease and works closely with ophthalmologist colleagues to provide the best possible patient care.

Will always seek consult with an ophthalmologist or optometrist colleague on any case that is beyond personal comfort zone.

Works closely with ophthalmologist in the management of post-cataract and laser vision correction patients.

Works closely with the ophthalmologist to insure continuity of patient care as well as quality assurance on all medical eye conditions.

Stay current through continuing education courses on improved treatment and management methods for all eye conditions and/or eye diseases.

Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.

Understands and complies with code and evacuation procedures.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Demonstrate Standards of Behavior and adhere to the Code of Conduct in all aspects of job performance at all times.

Qualifications

Required

Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited college of optometry. Bachelor's Degree. Currently licensed to practice Optometry in the state of Washington. Basic knowledge of the care given in a medical setting. Knowledge of optometric examination, diagnostic, and treatment procedures. Knowledge of patient education principles. Relate effectively with co-workers, physicians, and staff and function as part of a team. Relate effectively to patients, guests, and the general public. Work efficiently amidst on-going distractions. Communicate effectively in written form. Work independently with minimal supervision. Good organizational skills. Speak to others with a pleasant phone manner. Attention to detail and numerical accuracy. Respond calmly in an emergency situation. Reason and think logically to solve problems. Use judgment and make decisions. Deal effectively with the public in confrontational situations. Maintain confidentiality of patient information. Examine documents for accuracy and completeness. Speak clearly and concisely. Negotiate and work through issues. Leadership skills and the ability to instruct and train others. Type at least 35 wpm.

Requirements
