  • Description: The Veterinary Assistant I at the University of Louisville provides assistance to veterinary and research technicians in the performance of their duties in a laboratory animal research setting. The veterinary assistant also provides pre-operative and postoperative critical care of animals actively involved in research which may include all shifts and working independently. Essential

Duties & Responsibilities

Assist veterinary and research technicians with procedures and techniques. Perform pre-operative care and postoperative critical care of animals involved in research. Autoclave and sterilize materials. Prepare animals and surgical suites for surgeries, training labs, etc. Perform and assist in the administration of injections and treatments ordered by veterinary staff. Assist in the inventory control program. Maintain equipment in surgical and laboratory facilities and clean and restock supplies. Prepare surgical suite for surgical procedures and clean the suite after surgical procedures. Laundry and organization of scrubs and lab coats for the upcoming workload. Work weekends, holidays and be on call as scheduled accordingly. Target Compensation Maximum: $29.27 Target Compensation Minimum: $19.51 Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
