  • Shift: Day ShiftJob Summary The Certified Nurse Assistant is a nursing employee at the basic level of responsibility. The Certified Nurse Assistant carries out tasks supportive and complementary to nursing practices under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse. Essential Functions Perform routine duties accurately. Perform treatment procedures such as enemas, dulcolax suppositories, surgical skin preparations, and application of ice packs and heat while assuring patient comfort. Participate in nursing reports by receiving and contributing to status report of patients. Take and record vital signs, height, weight, intake and output, and other measurements as applicable in an accurate and precise manner. Prepare patients for meals and assist in feeding if necessary. Distribute water and other nourishments according to patients' needs. Make rounds willingly, anticipate patient’s needs, and respond to patient call lights promptly. Assist with or transport patients as necessary. Collect specimens, label properly, and transport to proper area in a timely manner. Assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment with well stocked supplies and functioning equipment. Report any malfunctioning equipment to the appropriate personnel. Follow nursing care plan observing established policies and procedures to assure proper treatment and care of patients. Report any observed change in patients' conditions or behavior to the appropriate personnel. Assist in orientation of new personnel to the unit and other Certified Nurse Assistants. Establish good rapport with patients, families, and visitors, while respecting patients' rights to privacy and confidentiality of information. Provide proper notification for absence and tardiness; punctual at start of shift. Observe hospital dress code and wear identification name badge. Demonstrate an understanding of emergency situations and response plans. Attend mandatory meetings and a minimum of 24 hours’ in-service education annually. Responsible for observing safety precautions. Perform other duties as assigned. If trained as a Ward Clerk, may perform ward clerk duties (see Ward Clerk job description). Follow all general and departmental safety, security, and health policies and procedures. Utilize all safe work practices for department. Physical Requirements, Safety, and Environmental Conditions Follows safe work practices, takes an active interest in preventing injury or illness and promoting a safe and healthful environment for self and others, and complies with Hospital and governmental safety regulations. Must function independently, have personal integrity, have flexibility and the ability to work effectively with other personnel, clients, and support agencies Sits, stands, bends, lifts, walks, and moves intermittently during working hours and ability to lift up to 20 lbs. Compliance Assumes personal responsibility to comply with all Federal, State and local laws governing business conduct, conducts business in an ethical and trustworthy manner, and displays the qualities and characteristics of a professional at all times when dealing with patients, visitors, physicians, volunteers, and fellow employees. Exemplifies the Seneca Core Values in all aspects of work responsibilities and demonstrates these values to fellow employees and supervisors. Quality of Work Assumes responsibility for professional customer service when working with the public, physicians, and other departments. Strives for excellence in following policies and procedures. Utilizes positive communication skills when interacting with people who work for, are serviced by, or associated with the hospital, to ensure that persons receive the highest degree of attention and courtesy. Maintains confidentiality of information received in the department and throughout the hospital by complying with strict confidentiality regulations per HIPAA requirements. Promotes professional growth of self and co-workers by participating in on-the-job training, continuing education and assisting with training of new employees. QualificationsQualifications Certified Nurse Assistant certification. Current BLS certification.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a valid Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification and a current BLS certification. The role requires the ability to lift up to 20 lbs and adhere to hospital safety and confidentiality regulations.
