Position Title: Licensed Social Worker (Fee for Service) – REUP215

Reports To: REUP215 Program Supervisor

Status: Contractual

Duration

This is a temporary contractual position. The position will conclude upon completion of the contract or upon exhaustion of grant funds, whichever occurs first.

Position Summary

The Licensed Social Worker (LSW) provides low-level therapeutic support and consultation services to youth participating in the diversion network. The LSW is available during the designated consulting hours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays but is open to discussing alternative hours to conduct screenings, review youth needs, assess presenting concerns, and determine the most appropriate therapeutic recommendations.

This role serves as a clinical resource for diversion providers by offering guidance, case consultation, and recommendations for mental health services, community-based supports, and intervention strategies to ensure youth receive appropriate and timely care. The LSW collaborates with program staff and community partners to support positive youth outcomes while promoting trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive practices.

Job Description

The Licensed Social Worker provides therapeutic consultation and clinical support to youth referred through the diversion network. Working closely with Diversion Coaches and community providers, the LSW conducts brief screenings, assesses behavioral health needs, and recommends appropriate interventions and community-based services. The position is consultative and designed to enhance service planning, strengthen provider decision-making, and increase access to timely behavioral health supports for youth and families.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct behavioral health screenings and assess youth needs to determine appropriate therapeutic recommendations.
  • Provide clinical consultation, case review, and trauma-informed guidance to Diversion Coaches and program staff.
  • Refer youth and families to appropriate behavioral health, family counseling, and community-based services.
  • Collaborate with youth, families, community providers, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and support positive outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of screenings, consultations, referrals, and recommendations.
  • Promote strengths-based, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed practices throughout the diversion network.

Job Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in social work (MSW) from an accredited institution is required.
  • Current Pennsylvania Licensed Social Worker (LSW) license in good standing.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with adolescents and families, preferably within juvenile justice, behavioral health, child welfare, or community-based settings.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, adolescent development, and community behavioral health resources is required.
  • Strong clinical assessment, consultation, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices for adolescents and families

  • Strong understanding of juvenile justice, diversion, and behavioral health systems
  • Excellent consultation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze clinical information and make sound recommendations

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound clinical judgment

Requirements

Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Social Work and a current Pennsylvania LSW license. A minimum of two years of experience working with adolescents and families in behavioral health or juvenile justice settings is required.
