About the role

The Orthopedic Surgeon provides direct medical care, including the diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions and surgical procedures. They coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans and oversee patient aftercare and physical therapy.

About the Role

Orthopedic Surgeon treats patients who require specialist orthopedic procedures to remedy conditions, such as scholisos, dislocations and fractures, and damage to tendons, musles, and ligaments. Responsibilities include consulting with patients, discussion treatment options, treating patients, overseeing aftercare and physical therapy, and coordinating with other specialists, when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, physical sciences, or related field.
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
  • 4-7 years' internship and residency training, specializing in orthopedic surgery
  • Successful completion of the USMLE or COMLEX-USA
  • Certification by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in orthopedic surgery and/or a subspeciality, such as sports medicine, reconstructive surgery, trauma, or pediatrics.
  • Valic and active medical license in the state of Arkansas

Preferred Qualifications

  • Board certification in Cardiovascular Disease.
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and clinical documentation.
  • Familiarity with hospital quality metrics and patient safety protocols.
  • Strong background in evidence-based medicine and clinical research.
  • Previous experience working in a multidisciplinary hospital team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct medical care to patients, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management.
  • Coordinate with specialists, nursing staff, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, prognosis, and discharge planning.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and continuing education to maintain and enhance clinical competencies.

  • The Physician utilizes clinical skills daily to assess and manage complex medical conditions, applying diagnostic reasoning and therapeutic interventions to improve patient outcomes.
  • Effective communication skills are essential for discussing treatment plans with patients, families, and healthcare teams, ensuring clarity and empathy.

Requirements

Candidates must hold an MD or DO degree, have 4-7 years of specialized residency training, and be board-certified in orthopedic surgery. A valid medical license in the state of Arkansas and completion of USMLE or COMLEX-USA are required.
