Responsibilities

  • Deliver coordinated nursing care for a patient or assigned group of patients according to standards of care and the nursing process.
  • Supervise and direct the activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff; coordinate care with other disciplines.
  • Apply critical thinking, professional judgment, and independent decision-making in daily patient management.
  • Monitor maternal and newborn status, administer medications and therapies per orders, and document findings accurately.
  • Educate patients and families on care plans, postpartum/ newborn care, and discharge instructions.
  • Collaborate with the care team to ensure safe, effective, and timely progression of care in the antepartum/antenatal and postpartum/postnatal setting.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse license in California (CA)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Nursing degree from an accredited program (ADN or BSN)
  • Experience in obstetric/maternity or maternal-newborn care preferred
  • Ability to work in a hospital setting and to rotate to night shifts
