WHAT YOU'LL DO AS OUR VETERINARY LAB ASSISTANT: You'll be working in our laboratory, supporting the veterinarians and veterinary techs in diagnosing and caring for our pet patients. This is a fast-paced role where you'll run urgent procedures and diagnostic tests (hematology, chemistry, microbiology, urinalysis, etc.) while following all safety policies to keep yourself, your team, and the animals safe. Precision and accuracy will be crucial as you process various samples (including centrifugation, staining, and preservation procedures) and use all types of Idexx equipment. You'll process digital cytology slides, perform various tests (blood, glycol, etc.), prepare samples to be sent to reference labs, and store samples when appropriate. Once you have the lab results, you'll clearly communicate findings to the veterinary team. You'll work within Vet Radar to complete lab tasks, monitor the diagnostic email, and manage the whiteboard to stay organized. To support efficiency, you'll manage our inventory levels and help proactively order materials. You'll help clean the lab/instruments and review patient invoices to make sure all billable items are included. Tackling additional duties as assigned, you'll support our hospital's mission and drive daily success! Qualifications

Working knowledge of the proper procedures for treating patients, ordering medical supplies, and requesting tests Ability to properly use, maintain, and store veterinary tools, materials, and equipment Ability to complete assigned tasks independently and take direction Critical thinking skills for solving problems, identifying the pros and cons of different solutions, and finding different approaches Collaborative team spirit Ability to frequently bend/stoop, restrain strong and active animals, lift/move 50 lbs, and occasionally handle dogs weighing 150+ lbs (with assistance) Willingness to work in an environment where you may be exposed to aggressive pets, infected animals, controlled substances, unpleasant odors/noises, and bites/scratches Ability to follow all animal health laws and regulations, including DE and OSHA Schedule flexibility for working various times/days to maintain 24-hour emergency coverage Ready to get started?
