The Direct Support Professional provides essential assistance with activities of daily living and maintains a clean, safe home environment for clients. They are responsible for meal preparation, light housekeeping, and reporting any changes in client behavior to supervisors.
The Direct Support Professional with work with clients in home and community based settings. The DSPs will help with all activities of daily living.
Must have an empathic attitude toward care of persons that require homemaking/caregiver services. Is committed to providing exceptional service and support to all clients and families. Must be able to carry out directions. The Caregiver/Home Health Aide must possess sufficient life experience as demonstrated by required number of years experienced and a satisfaction work record. Must be able to document patient care on an appropriate agency form. Caregiver/Home Health Aide reports to Staffing Coordinator. PREFERRED QUALIFICATION: AT LEAST (1) YEAR OF CAREGIVER/HOME HEALTH AIDE EXPERIENCE. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING): The Caregiver Shall: 1. Maintain the home in an optimum state of cleanliness and safety depending upon the client's and caregivers resources. 2. Perform the functions general undertaken by the customary caregiver, including such duties as preparation of meals, laundry, shopping, and care of children. 3. Performs casual, cosmetic assistance, such as brushing the client's hair, assisting with make-up, filing, and polishing of nails, but not clipping nails. 4. Stabalize the client when walking as needed, by holding the client's arm or hand. 5. Report to the appropriate supervisor any incidents or problems related to his or her work, immediately. 6. Report any unusual incidents or changes in the client's behavior to the case manager, immediately. 7. Maintain appropriate work records.
