Are you a compassionate Physical Therapy Assistant who enjoys helping people remain safe, independent, and thriving in their own homes? The VNA is excited to introduce a newly created Part-Time Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) position to support our growing home health team. In this rewarding role, you will work under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide therapeutic services that help patients recover from illness, injury, surgery, or chronic health conditions. As a Physical Therapy Assistant, you will

  • Provide physical therapy treatments and interventions according to the patient's plan of care Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, stretching, strengthening, range-of-motion activities, and mobility training Provide gait training and instruction on proper use of assistive devices Perform transfer training using safe body mechanics and appropriate equipment Deliver therapeutic techniques designed to reduce pain, improve circulation, and restore function Observe, document, and communicate patient progress and treatment responses to the supervising Physical Therapist Educate patients and family members on home exercise programs and strategies to support recovery Participate in discharge planning and ongoing care coordination Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation Collaborate with nurses, therapists, physicians, and other care team members to ensure exceptional patient outcomes Attend staff meetings, case conferences, educational opportunities, and quality improvement initiatives Follow agency policies, documentation standards, infection-control procedures, and all regulatory requirements

Requirements

Required Qualifications Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program. Current Iowa Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in good standing. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance. Ability to travel throughout Johnson County. Physical ability to assist patients with transfers, mobility training, gait training, therapeutic exercise, and activities of daily living. Strong communication, documentation, and patient education skills. Ability to successfully pass all pre-employment screenings, including a criminal background check, reference checks, and any other screenings required by VNA and applicable state and federal regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous home health experience. Electronic medical record (EMR) experience. Current CPR certification. Experience working with geriatric and medically complex patients.
