About the role

The Patient Care Technician is responsible for recording vital signs, assisting patients with mobility, and performing clinical tasks such as EKGs and phlebotomy. They also prepare examination rooms and document patient data while reporting condition changes to the RN.

Accountabilities

The essential functions of this position includes assisting patients with obtaining and recording vital signs, weights and heights

Assisting patients with mobility: ambulation, transfer, accommodations as needed

performing EKG's, phlebotomy and blood glucose monitoring if needed

Taking patient histories, preparing examination rooms, and helping with minor medical procedures like wound care, vaccinations, and blood draws, if needed

observing and reporting changes in patients’ condition to the RN

Examination rooms: Preparing examination rooms as needed

Documentation: Documenting patient information and data, including vital signs, weight, height, blood pressure, and temperature

Supplies and equipment: Preparing, organizing, and efficiently utilizing supplies and equipment

Patient Care Technician must be willing and able to work with diverse group of patients, each with unique healthcare needs. They need to be attentive to detail and have excellent communication skills.

Requirements

A High School Diploma or GED is required, and BLS certification is required within three months of hire. Preferred qualifications include six months of healthcare experience and a CCMA or PCT program certification.
