About the role

The technologist performs diagnostic medical sonograms and patient evaluations to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating varicose and spider veins. Responsibilities include operating ultrasound equipment, assisting in guided procedures, and managing patient scheduling within Epic.

Compensation

  • MRA offers competitive starting compensation based on qualifications and experience.

Job summary

Schedules patients and operates equipment to perform diagnostic medical sonograms in accordance with protocols in order to assist the physician in diagnosis and treatment. Follows established policies and procedures set by the department, hospital, state, ACR, TJC, and OSHA.

Responsibilities

include but are not limited to:

  • Greeting patients in a warm, friendly manner
  • Perform patient evaluation and diagnostic ultrasound to evaluate patients for possible treatment
  • Perform all additional scans indicated by the treatment plan
  • Assist Physician during US Guided procedures, and PA/ APRN as needed
  • Scheduling follow-up appointments in Epic
  • Work with the Physician and all team members to ensure exceptional patient care and office efficiency
  • Knowledge
  • Working knowledge applicable to ultrasound technology with specific references to anatomy, medical and surgical disease, and scientific principles as applied to ultrasound technology.
  • Patient care standards and requirements.
  • Quality assurance principles and practices.
  • Customer service principles and practices.
  • OSHA principles and practices.
  • TJC standards of practice.
  • Skills/Abilities
  • Operate ultrasound equipment.
  • Schedule, organize and monitor patient flow to meet company productivity, quality, health and safety standards.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, medical staff and co-workers.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of patient records.
  • Schedule, organize and complete work in accordance with required workloads.
  • Read, interpret and follow internal quality standards and government regulations.
  • Understand and follow specifications and instructions.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies.
  • Capable of maintaining basic life support (CPR).

Requirements

  • Current ARDMS and RVT certification (or seeking vascular certification) with ultrasound experience
  • Must work well with all team members, including physicians, PA/APRN, and other clinical and administrative staff
  • Must demonstrate computer skills as well as excellent communication and patient care skills. Epic EHR experience a plus
  • Physical Requirement of the job include being able to stand, sit, walk, bend and crouch. Requires direct patient contact with exposure to blood and body fluids.
