About the role

Assist with molecular immunology and translational research projects focusing on nucleic acid delivery for vaccines and therapeutics. Perform experiments involving molecular biology, tissue culture, and the handling of small animals (mice).

  • The Wistar Institute Vaccine Center has an opening for a Research Assistant to join the laboratory of Dr. David Weiner to assist with molecular Immunology and translational research projects in the laboratory supporting ongoing research. Studies include but are not limited to the use of delivery of Nucleic Acids as a vaccine/therapeutic agent. There are ongoing studies in the lab focused on both cancer or infectious diseases, including nucleic acid-delivered monoclonal antibody approaches. Responsibilities will include assisting and performing experiments using techniques focused on molecular biology, immunology, tissue culture, immune function assays, data analysis, and laboratory management tasks in support of different projects. Work involving small animals (mice) in support of the research into DNA
  • based vaccines and therapeutics is important. The successful candidate will receive adequate supervision and all training to safely and correctly complete research goals. A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in a science related field is required. The ideal candidate(s) will have prior experience in an immunology, virology, or molecular biology lab and experience working with mice. Candidates must have excellent communication skills and should be ble to work both independently on their tasks and work well in a collaborative scientific environment. Requirements
