Qualifications

J. C. Lewis Primary Health Care Center is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC) which exists to provide patient-centered primary health care services to the medically underserved residents of the greater Savannah-Chatham County, Georgia community. The Health Center makes comprehensive primary care, integrated behavioral health care, oral health care, and inpatient respite care services available to all persons, including the homeless and low-income uninsured and underinsured, regardless of ability to pay. The J.C. Lewis Primary Health Care Center excels in the provision of compassionate care and promotes healing through healthy living. Our team of highly skilled providers partners with patients in need to enable them to achieve and maintain optimal health and wellness across their life cycle.

Position Summary

As a dental hygienist, you will work closely with dentists and dental assistants to provide quality oral health care to patients. Your primary responsibilities will include performing dental cleanings, examining patients for signs of oral diseases such as gingivitis, and providing preventive dental care. Additionally, you will educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and assist dentists during procedures. Key Responsibilities: Perform Dental Cleanings: Conduct thorough dental cleanings to remove plaque, calculus, and stains from teeth. Examine Patients: Assess oral health conditions and screen for oral cancer and other potential health risks. Educate Patients: Instruct patients on proper oral hygiene practices and provide personalized advice for maintaining good oral health. Take X-rays: Capture and develop dental radiographs (x-rays) as needed for diagnostic purposes. Apply Preventive Materials: Administer fluoride treatments and apply sealants to protect teeth from decay. Assist Dentists: Support dentists during dental procedures by handing them instruments, taking impressions, and maintaining patient records. Document Care: Record patient care and treatment plans accurately in dental records. Sterilize Instruments: Maintain strict infection control protocols by sterilizing and disinfecting dental instruments and equipment. Stay Informed: Stay updated on advancements in dental hygiene and participate in continuing education opportunities.

Qualifications

Dental Hygiene and Dental Care skills Experience in performing dental prophylaxis Strong communication and interpersonal skills Attention to detail and good manual dexterity Experience in a dental clinic or healthcare setting is a plus Dental Hygienist certification and license
